New financial year... new Ergon tariffs
It is that time of year again when Ergon changes their rates of supply. Last financial year there were some very substantial increases in their tariffs, but this year, the changes aren’t as significant.
The residential supply is tariff 11. This will increase slightly from 33cents/kWh to 34cents/kWh. The economy rates of Tariff 31 and 33 will be almost the same with a small decrease of approx. 1cent/kWh bringing them to 19cents/kWh and 21cents/kWh respectively.
The daily supply charge has increased by 16cents to $1.36/day.
For customers who have a solar system installed, the feed in rate will reduce slightly down to 12.4cents/kWh, unless you have a 44cent system, which will remain unchanged.
Whilst these changes are relatively moderate, there is a big announcement that you may not be aware of yet. In recent times, the government has helped ease the cost of electricity by applying a cost of living rebate to customers’ Ergon bills. This financial year sees another substantial rebate towards easing the cost of living.
From the Ergon website…
Cost of Living Rebate
The State Government has announced Queenslanders will receive a $1000 Cost of Living Rebate which will be applied as a lump-sum to all eligible customer accounts from July 2024.
In addition, the Commonwealth Government has announced that all households will receive a $300 rebate applied in $75 quarterly instalments throughout 2024-25. Ergon Retail will automatically apply the rebates so our customers don’t have to apply.
