Home charging stations for your EV

You might have noticed more electric vehicles getting around Warwick lately. Nearly every car manufacturer has some type of electric vehicle, whether it be full electric or hybrid electric, entering the market. Tesla, BYD, Hyundai, Mitsibishi and Toyota are some of the more common ones you will see driving around. 

One of the restrictions with electric vehicles is the driving range. Up until recently, 50-150km range was considered to be a good driving range for full electric vehicles. Now, we are seeing 4-500km ranges and some are even getting more than this. 

With limited charging stations in Warwick, consumers are starting to setup home charging stations so they can have the car on charge while at home.

We recently installed a Solaredge solar system along with the Solaredge smart EV charger at Roger and Paula’s place. They recently bought a BYD EV, so installing a smart charger at their home was the next obvious choice. Being a smart EV charger, this system looks for excess solar generation to use as charging energy for their car, instead of exporting their excess into the grid. 

Having the solar system inverter and EV charger the same brand allows much more control over their energy consumption, avoiding purchasing from the grid where possible and maximising their investment.
